As the last pair of long steel rails
was accurately laid in place
the Xi'an-Yan'an High-Speed Railway
"arrived" in Yan'an, the sacred land of revolution
and the Xiyan High-Speed Railway successfully completed track connection.
The Xiyan High-Speed Railway passes through the gully region of the Loess Plateau, with the ratio of bridges and tunnels along the entire line as high as 91%. During the construction process, it involves 16 sections of track laying on long and steep slopes, with the maximum slope ratio reaching 30 per mil, making the track laying construction difficult and requiring high operational precision.
The track laying construction started on April 18th, covering the section from Xi'an North Station to Yan'an Station, with the main line track laying length reaching 600 kilometers. The construction unit innovated the track laying management mode to fully ensure the smooth completion of the track laying task for the entire line.
Yan'an Station simultaneously launched the passenger flow line optimization plan. After optimization, the average waiting time for passengers has been reduced by about 15 minutes, which not only effectively alleviates the pressure of the large passenger flow during the summer travel peak, but also reserves sufficient construction time for the on-schedule opening of the Xiyan High-Speed Railway through efficient organization.
Up to now, key construction tasks such as subgrade, bridges, tunnels and ballastless tracks of the Xiyan High-Speed Railway have been completed. The foundations and main structures of 8 newly-built station buildings have all been finished. In the follow-up, focus will be placed on key works such as "four electrical systems" construction, static acceptance, and joint commissioning and testing to prepare for the opening and operation.
The Xiyan High-Speed Railway is an important part of the Baotou-Yinchuan-Haikou High-Speed Railway Corridor in the national high-speed railway network, and it is also the first high-speed railway in the old revolutionary base area of northern Shaanxi. The total length of the line is 299.8 kilometers, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

After the line is completed and put into use, the travel time between Xi'an and Yan'an by train will be shortened from the current 2.5 hours to about 1 hour. It is of great significance for further advancing the Western Development Strategy, helping the rural revitalization of old revolutionary base areas, accelerating the construction of the Baotou-Yinchuan-Haikou High-Speed Railway Corridor, further improving and optimizing the national high-speed railway network layout, and enhancing the regional advantages of Shaanxi Province and its status as a hub in the national railway network.
